I'm a 2nd generation mixed race Latina with a stubborn love for robots and hamsters. I've gone through the motions — school, college, work — but creative endeavors have always tagged along for the ride.
In 2017 I had the opportunity to attend my first convention, and it changed me forever. I got completely absorbed in… cosplay! (Trust me, it's relevant.) Going to conventions with friends became the highlight of every year. My favorite corner of every event? The artist alley.
Despite making merch artwork for conventions since 2018, I never felt worthy enough to vend. Cosplaying felt joyful; the art world felt like an impenetrable club of "real artists" I could never compare to...
Years later, in 2021, one of my oldest friends — who had found success selling art online — lovingly dragged me in with them.
My first con? I made a grand total of $34. Putting myself out there was terrifying, but I kept going, desperate to improve. And things did get better! While still working my customer service job, my online shop kept growing.
Cut to 2024, where I took another leap of faith and launched a Kickstarter for the TF-verse — and received more support than I ever could have imagined...And ever since, I've been creating mecha pins to share with the world!
The intention behind YourGuidingX is to embolden people to embrace your interests and live authentically — even if it means wearing pins of silly robots in public.
I've grown to accept even my most cringe interests, and I hope I can inspire others to do the same. Life is short — we deserve to live and love freely!
